Focus and Scope
Focus and Scope
The International Journal of Business, Arts and Scientific Study (IJBASS) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal devoted to scholarship in business, economics and management; in the arts, humanities and social sciences; and in the interdisciplinary space where these fields meet. The journal exists to promote, maintain and develop high-quality research of international standard, and to make that research freely available to readers everywhere.
IJBASS is addressed to academic researchers, doctoral candidates, policy analysts, educators and reflective practitioners who work on contemporary business, social, cultural, economic, educational and organisational questions. The journal has no geographic restriction and welcomes submissions from all countries. It has a particular interest in rigorous work from and about developing economies, and in research that speaks to practice as well as to theory.
All manuscripts are published in English and, with the exception of editorials, letters and book reviews, undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts.
Types of Contribution
- Original research articles — reporting empirical studies, quantitative or qualitative, that present new evidence and are described in sufficient detail to permit replication.
- Review articles — systematic, scoping or critical reviews that synthesise an existing body of literature and identify directions for further enquiry.
- Theoretical and conceptual studies — developing, extending or critically examining theory, frameworks or constructs.
- Case studies — in-depth examinations of organisations, institutions, communities or events, set within an explicit analytical framework.
- Methodological papers — introducing or evaluating research methods and instruments relevant to the journal's fields.
- Book reviews, editorials and letters to the editor — short contributions to scholarly discussion.

Interdisciplinary Research
IJBASS actively welcomes interdisciplinary work that integrates perspectives, theories, methods or evidence from more than one of the fields listed above. The journal is particularly interested in research addressing contemporary challenges that cannot be understood within a single discipline: sustainable business and climate adaptation, digital transformation and its social consequences, financial inclusion, cultural industries and the creative economy, public health governance, education reform, migration, and inequality.
Interdisciplinary submissions should make their contribution legible to readers outside the author's home discipline. Specialist terminology should be defined, and the significance of the findings should be stated in terms a broad scholarly readership can evaluate.
Outside the Scope of the Journal
To keep its editorial focus clear, IJBASS does not consider the following, and such submissions are declined without review:
- research in engineering, computer science, mathematics, the physical sciences or the life sciences, except where the work is principally a study of the business, social, economic, policy or cultural dimensions of those fields;
- clinical and biomedical research;
- creative work submitted as such — poetry, fiction, musical compositions, artworks and portfolios;
- descriptive reports, institutional or project documents and consultancy reports that lack an explicit research question, method and analytical framework;
- opinion pieces and advocacy writing not grounded in evidence;
- undergraduate coursework and unrevised chapters extracted from theses without substantial adaptation.
Authors who are uncertain whether their manuscript falls within the scope of the journal are encouraged to send a title and abstract to editor@ijbassbd.com before submission. The editorial office will respond with a view on suitability.
